No study has been able to evaluate the effectiveness of postvention programs and their impact on reducing the overall suicide rate. However, studies suggest that they are effective responses for preventing “cluster” effects. Current studies suggest that multimodal postvention programs would be the most relevant (preparing the environment and maintaining a healthy setting, developing a community response plan, education, identification/screening of high-risk groups, long-term support and follow-up, outreach for at-risk groups, promotion of healthy lifestyle habits and mental health maintenance, increasing social literacy, knowledge of available resources, support and follow-up, etc.).
