The practice of mindfulness meditation is gaining popularity among both adults and children and adolescents. In recent years, research has focused on the applications of mindfulness meditation in elementary school settings. The impact of mindfulness has been evaluated both among youth in regular classrooms from a prevention perspective and among youth from clinical populations. Although still preliminary, research tends to suggest that mindfulness represents an interesting therapeutic avenue for reducing internalized and externalized symptoms in children.
