Chantal Poulin:
Coming from a teaching practice in special education at the secondary level for nearly 20 years, I simultaneously pursued doctoral studies that reinforced the importance I placed on my professional development.
This commitment allowed me to recognize the value of alternating between active professional practice and external theoretical reflection. This combination, emphasizing the importance of stepping back from my intervention choices and relying on scientifically validated approaches, influenced the quality of my interventions with the students entrusted to me.
Even today, after more than a decade in the university environment, I consider it essential that research and practice continuously inform one another. In this regard, my involvement in the initial training of several university programs related to teacher education is proof of this commitment. Over time, I have developed significant expertise directly related to issues that concern practitioners. In particular, issues related to the management of learning assessment, intervention with students with special needs, and the development of student self-regulation distinguish the way I support teachers and, above all, positively foster their sense of self-efficacy.
In addition, the many conferences and training sessions offered in Quebec and internationally as part of various professional activities have also fueled my desire to intervene differently. It is important to strengthen continuing education efforts for teachers, school administrators, educational service managers, and their advisors so that the influence of our combined efforts can contribute to the success of our students.
My ongoing doctoral studies and my involvement with the Research Chair on Perseverance and Engagement of the CSRS allow me to offer stimulating professional support approaches because they are supported by evidence-based data and field observations that demonstrate their effectiveness.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in your professional journey!!
